About Me

Hello a warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.  I imagine that you may be currently struggling with some aspect of your life, looking for some sort of help and perhaps wondering which path to follow with regards to therapy. Choosing a therapist can be a very difficult and often thought provoking process because there are so many therapies and therapists available to you.  You may be thinking how do I distinguish between one therapist and another and how will I know which one will suit me best.

Perhaps, initially looking at qualifications and experience may be a reasonable starting place because it gives you a good indication of whether your therapist has the relevant experience to accommodate your individual needs.  I feel it is imperative that the therapist you do choose, is absolutely the right person for you.  This will ensure that the therapeutic relationship, which is paramount for the success of therapy, is there from the start and that the therapist has your individual needs at heart.

I am a well-qualified and experienced Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist with over 13 years experience providing a competent and professional service. I currently divide my time working as a Psychological/Couples Therapist for a large Government Health Organisation and my own Private Practice.  In the past I have worked within a Community Mental Health Team as a Bereavement and Loss Counsellor, as well as working within a Hospice which has given me invaluable experience when working with all areas of loss.

Shakespeare said ‘Give sorrow words: for the grief that does not speak knits up the o’er wrought heart, and bids it break’’.  Bereavement literally means ‘to be robbed of something valued’ . Grieving is a process of adjusting to that loss and is universal and I feel I have the experience to help you on your  own unique journey. I am also a Counsellor for BLISS (an organisation offering counselling to parents whose child has been ‘born too soon’) and I have spent several years working as a School Counsellor with children from 11 to 18 years of age.  In 2012, I qualified as a Couples Counsellor with Time2Relate.

In my experience, people seek therapy for many different reasons and I have successfully worked with people experiencing some of the following issues/concerns:

I have experience and training in several evidence-based and NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recommended therapies.  In particular I use:

  • Counselling/Psychotherapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
